This all inclusive 1 day Ngamba Island chimpanzee tour allows you to visit chimpanzees on either half day or full day chimpanzee tour excursions, with boats departing in at 9:00 am every morning  and 12:45pm every afternoon. The morning viewing starts  from 9:00am to 1:00pm, and the afternoon chimpanzee viewing, between 12:45pm-5:00pm. The ultimate day trip to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary experience offers chimpanzee viewing, chimpanzee feeding,  bird watching, swimming on the equator, and buying souvenirs from the Island Gift Shop which helps to generate income for funding the sanctuary .

Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Lake Victoria protects 52 Chimpanzees. The sanctuary was initially a refuge to the first 45 rescued & orphaned chimpanzees and the rest were born in the Island with Natasha being among the last born babies. Ngamba Island Chimpanzee sanctuary  sits on a 95 hectares of virgin forest where chimps usually wander & forage daily.

The Non-Governmental Organization of the Chimpanzee sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust along with the  Ugandan government and wildlife authorities join together to manage the sanctuary.  Ngamba Island Chimpanzee sanctuary aims at sustainably conserve the chimpanzees, providing enough care to the rescued chimpanzees.

The Sanctuary offers both half & Full day  trips to the sanctuary, with an option of a 1 night sleep over at Ngamba Ecolodge. The sanctuary still requires more support and partnership to help run the conservation activities.

Detailed Itinerary For The 1 Day Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Safari Excursion.

Following your Ngamba Chimpanzee tour schedule, either 9:00am or 12:45pm, you will be picked by the driver guide from your lodge of residence, then take  the drive in a customized 4×4 safari Jeep to reach in time at the Uganda Wildlife Education Center, to take a boat cruise to the Island from Entebbe. The boat ride usually takes about 2 hours to reach.

On arrival, you will be warmly welcomed, at the visitor’s center, where you will registered, receive orientation about the ongoing projects, the sanctuary’s history as well as their future target plans. You will also be assigned a chimpanzee care giver who will allow you view  as he is feeding the chimpanzees, as well as training you to take part in feeding them on a raised platform along the extreme ends of the Sanctuary fence.

Apart from chimp feeding, visitors also have the opportunity of spotting birds, encounter other wildlife,  swimming on the equator,  visiting the nearby fishing villages, or sun bathing and relaxing, alongside taking memorable amazing photoshoots.

You can have lunch onsite, then later  join the boat ride back to the Uganda Wildlife Education Center to meet with the driver guide who will transfer you back to your hotel of residence
