Gorilla trekking in Rwanda’s Volcanoes national Park allows you to trek 1 out of 12 habituated families, including Susa, Igisha, Karisimbi, Sabyinyo, Amahoro, Agashya, Kwitonda, Umubano, Hirwa, Bwenge, Ugyenda and Muhoza.
Each gorilla family/troop, encompassed by 1 silverback, several females, juveniles and infants in their respective positions, are observed and safeguarded by park rangers. At most 8 gorilla trekking permits are supplied per day per group.
