4 days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking and Bisoke Hiking tours offers  Gorilla trekking and climbing Mount Bisoke in Volcanoes National Park. Besides Mountain Gorillas, Volcanoes national park is also home to Spotted hyenas, golden monkeys, black fronted duikers, buffaloes, elephants, bush backs among others. The park also has about 178 bird species, from which 29 endemics are from Virunga and Rwenzori.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes national park

On day 1 of your 4 Rwanda Gorilla trekking and Mount Bisoke climbing safari, You will be met at the Airport  by Aloyo Safaris  driver guide, with whom interract about the ongoing Rwanda safari to Volcanoes National Park in 4 days.  Thereafter, you will head on for a brief city tour to explore places like the Genocide memorial sites, craft shops, market places, malls among other attractions in Kigali. After then proceed to Ruhengeri/kinigi in Volcanoes National Park after 2 hours of driving from Kigali.

Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park

Very early in the morning after breakfast, you will go gorilla trekking with your driver guide who will transfer you to the briefing point where the park guide will advise about the code of conduct of the Mountain Gorillas.

In a group of 8 trekkers, you will head to the impressive forest of Volcanoes National Park to look for the Mountain Gorillas, which may take about 2-8 hours. On finding them, you will have the chance to interact with them for at most 1 hour, while observing a distance of 7m apart, then after return to the lodge for lunch.

You can visit the Iby’Iwachu cultural village to explore the Rwandan culture, by participating in their dance, hunting, cooking, making local brew among others.

Alternatively, you can head for guided walk to visit the twin lakes of Burela and Ruhondo instead of the Ibyiwacu cultural village. Dinner and overnight rest at the lodge

Day 3: Bisoke Volcano hike in Volcanoes national park

Wake up early, grab your lunch box provided by your lodge, pack enough drinking water,  all hiking gear then meet your safari driver guide and proceed to the briefing grounds where you will find other hikers. You will start your hike to mount Bisoke, instantly after briefing upto the summit.

During the hike, expect to encounter numerous wildlife like Mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, mammals, birds, butterflies among other creatures without forgetting a glimpse at Karisoke research center which was put in place by the Late Dian fossey the primatologist who was committed to conserve the endangered mountain gorillas from total extinction.

You will reach the Mount Bisoke Peak after a 4 hours trek, then you will enjoy the breathtaking scenery, and magnificent views of  Uganda and Congo, after which you will descend to trhe starting point, where you will meet your driver guide to transfer you back to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer back to Kigali for departure

Wake up at your pace for breakfast, checkout and drive back to Kigali, where you will arrive in time for lunch, after then you can proceed to the Airport

Note: you may enjoy a golden monkey trekking adventure since it’s a half day safari before returning to Kigali and in case you missed out city tour, this is the day to enjoy it before departing. Your flight will determine what to do on the last day of your safari.
