Detailed Itinerary for the 4 days Gorilla trekking and Chimpanzee safari
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes national Park
On day 1 of the 4 days Rwanda Gorilla & Chimpanzee trekking Safari, you will be met by a safari guide from our company, who will then transfer you to Volcanoes national Park in North Western Rwanda. You will be briefed about what you will expect on your 4 days Rwanda Gorilla trekking and chimpanzee tracking safari, there after head for a city tour within Kigali, to visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial site, the crafts market, museum etcetera. After here, you will head northwards through the stunning landscape of the Land of the A thousand hills, arriving in your lodge in the afternoon.
You will check in, and later take a community visit to the Iby’Iwachu cultural Village, where you will enjoy inspiring moments watching their cultural dance performances, by participating in their dance, hunting, cooking, making local brew and more.
Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla trekking
On day 2 of the 4 days Rwanda Gorilla trekking and Chimpanzee safari, you will wake up early for breakfast. After here, the driver guide will drive you to the park headquarters of Volcanoes national park Rwanda for Briefing about the do’s and don’ts as well as the expectations of Mountain gorilla trekking.
The ranger guide will share the code of conduct of how you must behave during your trek, when you are with the gorillas, until when your finally depart.
Gorilla trekking may lust for about 2 to 8 hours depending on the gorilla family, how far they may have moved from the previous position, or otherwise the physical strength of the group members.
Once you locate the gorilla, you are allowed to spend up to one hour with gorillas and ensure you maintain a distance of 7 meters away from the gorillas.
Return to the Lodge for Lunch, then checkout and proceed to Nyungwe Forest national Park.
Dinner and Overnight at the Lodge
Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking Safari
Very early in the morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to the briefing point at Uwinka. The park guide will guide you through the regulations of the regulations of chimpanzee tracking, then transfer you to the starting point for Chimpanzee trekking.
Chimpanzee trekking may take about 2 to 8 hours, and you may spot other inhabitants like colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, plus a variety of bird and butterflies, then return to the lodge for lunch .
After lunch at the lodge, go for a canopy walk, along a 200m bridge, suspended high above the tropical rainforest of Nyungwe National Park.
You will have an aerial view of the forest enabling you to spot birds and more of the primates feeding on top of the trees or jumping from one tree to another.
Day 4: Departure
Finally, we come to the end of our 3 days Nyungwe National Park Safari, by waking up early for breakfast. The driver guide will then pick you up and transfer you back to Kigali, with an enroute visit to Gisakura Tea Estate to explore the farm and Factory.
You will learn how tea is grown, processed and packed at the factory, after which you will proceed with your journey to Kigali, arriving in the Late afternoon at the airport to catch your flight back home, otherwise you will be dropped in your lodge.
