6 Days Kilimanjaro Marangu trek offers 6 days Mount Kilimanjaro climbing/hiking via Marangu(Coca-Cola or tourist) route to the top of Uhuru peak at 5895m at a summit success rate between 75% to 85%. The 6 days Mount Kilimanjaro Marangu Route starts from Marangu gate(1870m), & traverses through Mandara hut(2750m), Horombo hut(3690m), Kibo hut(4700m), to Uhuru Peak(5895m) & descends back down to Marangu gate through the same route.
This 6 day Marangu route of Kilimanjaro climbing follows the oldest, but exceptionally most popular route with permanent dormitory like hut accommodations established along the trail, for mountaineers.
Marangu Route trail is the shortest amongst all routes of Mount Kilimanjaro, because it uses the same trail for both ascending to the Summit, and descending back to the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Marangu route is the only route which provides 5 days Mount Kilimanjaro trek which makes it most affordable and perfect option for climbers with fixed budget. The route is also perfect budget travelers, who cannot afford camping equipment, because it provides dormitory bank beds inside the huts, which is comfortable enough for an overnight rest, hence its the only route that doesn’t allow camping.
Despite the fact that the Marangu route offers perfect Kilimanjaro hiking experience (easy climbing with no steep sections), offering breathtaking views and a wondrous hiking adventure all the way to the Top of Uhuru Peak, it also has the highest failure rate, due to low acclimatization rate.
Starting from Marangu Gate, the 6 days Kilimanjaro Marangu route trek or 5 days Marangu Route trek , ascends through forest to the Mandara Huts, then through moorland to Horombo Huts where one or two nights are spent for acclimatization reasons. The route then continues up to Kibo Hut through alpine desert and the final water point on the route, which then ascends further to Uhuru Peak via Gilman’s Point. Descent from the peak takes the same route Horombo Hut, and ending Marangu Gate.
