2 Days Akagera National Park Wildlife  Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park

This morning, we depart for a wildlife safari in Akagera National Park Safari immediately following your breakfast. The driver-guide will get you from your hotel and will drop you off at the conclusion of the 2 days Akagera National Park Wildlife safari or at the airport, depending on your preference.

The journey to Akagera National Park requires around 2 hours and 30 minutes, contingent upon any stopovers en route. Given the picturesque scenery along the trip to the park, do not hesitate to request the guide for pauses to take photographs. Upon arrival at the park, we will undertake a brief game drive before checking into our lodge and ordering lunch.

Post-lunch, depart for Lake Ihema for a one-hour boat safari experience. Be vigilant for hippos, crocodiles in the water or on the shoreline, and elephants and buffaloes grazing near the lake. Observe various avian species, including the black crake, spur-winged lapwing, pied kingfisher, malachite kingfisher, Goliath heron, African fish eagle, and African jacana, among others. Take a nighttime game drive, which begins around 6 p.m.

Day 2: Game Drives In Akagera National Park Wildlife Safari

We depart early and travel immediately after breakfast for a game drive in Akagera National Park. We will be seeking large creatures such as elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, several antelope species, and the recently reintroduced lions and rhinos. The park serves as a diverse habitat for wildlife and a sanctuary for birdwatchers, hosting approximately 500 bird species.

You will depart the lodge with a packed lunch for the game drive, which will last approximately 6 hours, contingent upon your preferences, before commencing the return journey to Kigali. You will traverse the lakeside road, which frequently features diverse wildlife, before exiting through the northern gate to return to Kigali.
