A Detailed 4 Days Rwanda Gorillas & Akagera Safari
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Akagera National Park
Following a leisurely breakfast at your hotel in Kigali, you proceed to Akagera National Park on the first day of your 4-Day Rwanda Gorilla Trekking and Akagera National Park Safari.

Akagera National Park encompasses 2,500 km² of savannah situated west of the Kagera River in northeastern Rwanda. The park hosts a diverse array of wildlife and serves as a habitat for more than 500 distinct species of birds.
Elephant and buffalo herds come from the forest to drink at the lakes, while one may encounter a leopard, a spotted hyena, or perhaps a lion. The savannah is frequented by giraffes and zebras, while over a dozen species of antelope reside in the park.
You will have lunch, followed by an extensive game drive in the national park throughout the afternoon.
You are expected to stay at your reserved lodge, where an enjoyable hot dinner will be provided in the evening.

Day 2: Game drive and Boat ride on Akagera National Park
Begin day 2 of the 4-Day Rwanda Gorilla Trekking and Akagera National Park Safari with an early morning breakfast, followed by game drives in an open-roofed vehicle.
A half-day game drive provides the opportunity to observe a diverse array of wildlife, including elephants, buffalo, hippos, lions, Masai giraffes, gazelles, impalas, baboons, oribi, Burchell‘s zebra, topi, bush babies, leopards, and bushbucks.
Embark on a boat excursion post-lunch on Lake Ihema to observe crocodiles and hippos along the riverbanks, alongside a significant presence of over 525 bird species, both migratory and savanna-related.
Distinct species, like the Shoebill Stork and the Papyrus Gonolek, may be observed. Endemics comprise jacanas, ibises, sandpipers, and herons. Proceed to your lodge for dinner.

Day 3: Transit from Akagera National Park to Volcanoes National Park via Kigali
On the morning of your third day of the 4-Day Rwanda Gorilla Trekking and Akagera National Park Safari, you will depart Akagera National Park and return to Kigali around 10 AM after breakfast. You will have the opportunity to visit the Genocide Memorial Center, followed by lunch.
The Kigali Genocide Memorial serves as the burial site for almost 250,000 victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi.
Subsequently, proceed north to Parc des National (Volcanoes National Park), situated 80 km from Kigali, approximately a two-hour trip.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park – travel to Kigali
Awaken for an early breakfast and prepare to depart your lodge at 6:30 am for Gorilla Trekking. We proceed to the park headquarters, where we get guides and a briefing prior to entering the forest on the final day of the 4-Day Rwanda Gorilla Trekking and Akagera National Park Safari. We will trek one of the ten habituated gorilla families in Rwanda, with a maximum of eight individuals permitted to trek per family.
Traverse the jungle accompanied by seasoned ranger guides in pursuit of the Mountain Gorillas. The duration of the hunt for these giant apes varies from 2 to 6 hours, contingent upon the location and the movement of the gorillas, whose territory can extend up to 40 kilometers. The park rangers and guides will facilitate your trek and provide assistance throughout the forest.
Upon locating a Gorilla group, you will spend one hour observing their movements, feeding, play, and rest. Observing the mountain gorillas is one of the most extraordinary experiences one can have. Long pants, a long-sleeve shirt, hiking boots or athletic shoes, gaiters, and a rain jacket are required.
Upon completion of the gorilla trekking, proceed to Kigali Airport for your return trip home.
Your departure flight from Kigali must be scheduled for after 10:00 PM.
