10 Days Rwanda Safari Itinerary By Day
Welcome to Kigali to the hotel
You will be met, by one of Aloyo Safaris experienced safari driver guide and be transferred to the hotel for your overnight stay.
Day 1: Kigali city tour and transfer to Akagera national park & Boat ride.
Very early in the morning, wake up for breakfast, thereafter the safari driver guide will take you a Kigali city tour where you will visit the Genocide memorial at Gisozi, Kaplaki craft market and other local market, Hotel Rwanda, after which you will proceed to Akagera national park.
Akagera National Park is the extensive Savannah park of Rwanda that boarders with Tanzania, and is most popular for variety of game such as Elephants, lions, Zebras, Roan Antelopes, Impalas, water bucks, warthogs, leopards, Elands, Hippos, giraffes among others where you will do sun set boat cruise around the island on Lake Ihema thereafter go to your Hotel
End the first day at the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: morning game drive and transfer to Kigali.
On day 2 of the 9 days Rwanda safari, you will have your morning breakfast, and head for your game drive to look for Zebras, giraffes, impalas, Elephants baboons, Topi, leopards on rare occasions, Elands Roan antelopes and lions that where recently introduced, you will continue game viewing up to the northern part of the park where you will exit through the northern gate as you drive back to Kigali for lunch and later on transfer to Nyungwe forest National park.
Along your way, you will visit Nyanza kings palace, Butare ethnographic museum, Murambi genocide memorial thereafter continue to your lodge.
Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk in afternoon
Start your morning with breakfast, after then head to the park headquarters for briefing about the chimpanzee trekking regulations, and what to expect. In a group of 8, along with an experienced park guide, you will be led to the tropical rainforest of Nyungwe to look for the chimpanzees.
Chimpanzee trekking may take from 2-5 hours, with an inclusive 60 minutes of face to face interaction when you find them.
The diverse Nyungwe forest National Park one of the largest remaining African tropical rain forests that hosts around 13 primate species, this will include chimpanzee, Angola colobus monkey, owl faced monkey l’heost monkey red tailed monkey among plus numerous bird species with high concentration of Albertine rift endemic bird species
When you return, you will have lunch at the lodge and drive back to start your canopy walk that will last 1-3 hours depending on the length of the bridge.
This is the time you will walk on swinging bridge across the forest as you get the chance to glimpse bird varieties, different monkeys types, butterflies among other forest creatures then after return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Colobus Monkey Tracking and transfer to Kibuye.
Following your breakfast, you will continue to the forest to track the rare Angolan colobus monkey which are seen in the trees but habituated to human presence. While trekking through the forest, you have the chance glimpse other monkey species like montane monkeys, red tailed, grey-cheeked monkeys and birds.
Have your way out for lunch at the lodge after trekking, thereafter, you will have a scenic drive on shores of lake kivu as you head to Kibuye town that is located on lake shore. Check in to your lodge for dinner & an overnight
Day 5: Transfer to Lake Kivu in Rubavu, Gisenyi and Go for Afternoon boat ride
After your breakfast on this 5th day of the 1 days Rwanda safari, you will head to Lake Kivu to Gisenyi town, through spectacular view of the eastern province, have lunch and head for a boat ride on Lake Kivu. You will visit the hot spring gas plant, coffee, later have. Return for dinner and overnight stay at your lodge
Day 6: Morning Walk and transfer to Volcanoes National park.
On this 6th day of the 10 days Rwanda safari, you will wake up for breakfast, after which you will proceed for a walk along the shores and borders of Congo for spectacular view as you witness the lifestyle of the people within. Following your checkout from the hotel, drive to Volcanoes national park in Ruhengeri.
Proceed for dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 7: Gorilla tracking adventure and cultural visit to ibyiwacu
Following your early morning breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for briefing about the regulations of gorilla trekking while trekking and when with the gorillas, thereafter you will proceed to the light forest to trek the mountain gorillas in a group of 8 with a park guide.
It will take you 2-5 hours to trek the gorillas, and when you find them, you will spend at most 60 minutes in their presence, then head for lunch, and later on visit the Iby’Iwachu cultural village for an exclusive cultural experience
Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight.
Day 8: Mount Bisoke Hike
Early breakfast at your hotel, thereafter head for briefing at the park head quarters. Since it is a tough and strenuous hike, it may take a full day, which therefore requires packing enough food, water and a porter to help carry your luggage.
You will then be transferred to the trail head to start your hiking excursion. Later on return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight
Day 9: Golden monkey tracking and transfer to Kigali / Airport
Wake up early for breakfast, after then head for briefing, where you be guided about the dos and don’ts of golden monkey tracking. The tracking will take 3-4 hours then you will be brought back. After lunch, visit the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Bulera and return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Departure
We come to the end of your 10 days Rwanda safari.
Following your morning breakfast, you will be driven back to Kigali, where you will proceed to the lodge or airport for your flight back home.
