4 days Mount Kenya Climbing Naro Moru-Sirimone route Safari  is an ultimate adventure that allows climbing Mount Kenya via Naro Moru Sirimon Route in 4 days. The Naro Moru route of Mount Kenya is less beautiful, although it is the fastest route to reach Point Lenana, and has best accommodation camps/huts for visitors.

From Naromoru town, follow the trail a long the gravel  road, through  Kikuyu farmlands of coffee and pineapple for about 13km to where the forest starts. Day 2 kicks off from met station to Mackinders, which is then followed by Lenana peak summit on day 3 to the park gate from Old Moses camp on day 4. Although the route is not particularly scenic, it has some of the best tourist accommodations.

Detailed Itinerary for  4 days Mount Kenya Climbing Naro Moru – Sirimon

Day 1: Nairobi -Met station ( 3,050 m )

Duration: 3 -4 hrs

Distance : 10km

Altitude elevation:  600m.

From Nairobi, A safari driver guide from Aloyo Safaris will transfer you to Naru Moru park gate  where you will have lunch. Register and  start trekking, ascending up through the spectacular montane forest, bamboo, and giant heather zone , then you will arrive at the high altitude moorland, then rest at Met Station for dinner and overnight.

This is a gentle trek that takes 3 – 4 hrs gaining an elevation of 600m.

Day 2: Met Station – Mackinders camp (4,300m)

Duration: 5-6 hrs.

Distance:  11km,

Elevation gain: 1,200m

After breakfast in the morning, take a short walk as you exit the forest, after which you will hike across the marshy vertical bog of the lower moorlands.  Picnic lunch will be served at this point on the picnic rocks then proceed further to Mackinders camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Mackinders Camp  – Lenana Peak (4,985m) – Old Moses camp.

Duration: 10-11 hrs,

Altitude elevation: 685m ascent and 1,685 descent.

Early in the morning at 0300 hrs,  sett of for a pre-dawn trek for 3-4 hours to the summit of Lenana. You will walk on bare rocks and scree like slopes of the alpine region to the Lenana Peak, where you will reach in time to catch the beautiful

Morning sunrise.  Later on after photography, slope downwards  to Shipton’s camp (Sirimon route) for breakfast, then descend further for 5-hours via Mackinder`s valley to the Old Moses camp (3,300m). The descent is gentle and it offers ample time to enjoy breathtaking scenery of moorlands reaching the camp in the evening for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 4: Old Moses (3,300m) – Nairobi.

Duration: 2 hrs.

Descend for 3 hours after your morning breakfast, passing through the rain forest to the Sirimon Park gate to catch a vehicle for the return journey to Nairobi, reaching in the evening for dinner and an overnight.
