4 days Mount Kenya climbing Sirimon chogoria route/trail safari is a 4 day climbing mount Kenya itinerary tour package that joins two most scenic routes/trails of Sirimon & chogoria for hiking Mount Kenya. Both Sirimon and Chogoria trail Routs showcase an ultimate and spectacular trekking adventure. This 4 Days Mount Kenya Climbing Sirimon-Chogoria ascends up Sirimon route through Old Moses or Judimier hut, Shipton hut to Point Lenana at 4985m & descends down to Mintos hut, Mount Kenya Bandas of Chogoria route to the gate, and depart for Nairobi.
The Sirimon route/trail which approaches Mount Kenya from the west follows the dry side of the mountain with its giant trees and rocky terrain, to Point Lenana at 4985m and drops down the Chogoria path with lush bamboo and highland forests.
However, nighttime hike to Lenana peak is more challenging, compared to to other ascents of Kilimanjaro’s Uhuru and the Rwenzori Mountains’ Margherita peaks.

Day 1: Nairobi – Sirimon – Old Moses Camp (3,300m) – 3/4 hrs
Day 2: Old Moses Camp – Shipton Camp (4,200m) – 7 hrs
Day 3: Shipton – Pt Lenana (4,985m) – Mount Kenya Bandas (2,800m) – 11/12 hrs
Day 4: Meru Bandas – Chogoria town – Nairobi – 3 hrs
Detailed Itinerary for Mount Kenya climbing Sirimon-Chogoria route in 4 days
Day 1: Nairobi – Sirimon gate- Old Moses camp. ( 3,300m)
Diuration: 3-4 hrs
Distance: 9km walk
Elevation Gain: 680m ascent.
Pick up from Nairobi by Aloyo Safaris travel driver guide, who will transfer you to to Nanyuki town, passing over the equator en route to the Sirimon Park gate where you arrive in time for lunch(2660m). At gate, you will be registered, then in a company of porters, trekking guides and cooks, you will set off for the hike up through the magnificent montane forest, bamboo, and giant heather zone . After then connect to moorland at high altitude Old Moses camp at 3,300m for dinner and overnight rest.
Day 2: Old Moses – Shipton camp (4200m).
Duration:7 hrs
Distance: 14km
Elevation Gain: 900m ascent.
Have breakfast early in the morning, and depart for Shipton’s camp/hut. Follow the path uphill, bending to the right after the junction, where you will have a break. Proceed with the trek crossing Ontulili River, and connect to Moorland where you will cross the Liki North River. From here you will ascend further uphill to Mackinders Valley which features scenic views of the valley as you head towards the Shipton Camp. This camp is suitably located beneath the towering peaks and glaciers. The resident population is majorly Rock hyrax as well as sunbirds.
Day 3: Shipton – Lenana Peak (4985m)- Mt Kenya Bandas (2800m)
Duration: 11-12 hrs
Distance: 29km
Elevation gain: 785 ascent & 2,085m descent.
Wake up at 3.am, and start trekking on frozen scree, then join the continuous rocky track with some scrambling to reach Lenana peak in time when the sun is rising.
While at the top, you will enjoy the magnificent views of the Kilimanjaro mountain which is visible from the horizon.
Thereafter you will descend to Minto’s camp for full breakfast, and a short break. Continue later on to Mt Kenya bandas along the gorges valley where you can have good views of The Temple, Lake Michaelson, Mushroom rocks and Giant billiards table. Dinner and overnight at the Bandas.
Day 4: Meru Bandas – Chogoria town – Nairobi. 3 hrs, 10km walk.
Following your morning breakfast, descend down on a wide track, passing through bamboo and lush rain forest to meet the driver in our 4×4 vehicle for transfer to Chogoria town and further to Nairobi arriving by 17:00hrs.
