The 4 days Lewa Downs conservancy safari offers a Big 5 wildlife experience in Kenya’s #1 best private wildlife reserve.
In a 4×4 open Safari Land cruiser jeep with a profession driver guide from Aloyo Safaris, you will visit Lewa downs Wildlife Conservancy, which is situated 260km from Nairobi City, and 2km from Meru/Isiolo and Nanyuki Junction.
Your drive will follow Karatina through Kiganjo to Nanyuki then to Subuiga, which is just 2km from Lewa gate.
Common animals that can easily be encountered include Wild dogs, Leopards, cheetahs, Somali Ostrich, Beisa, Oryx, gerenuk, grevy’s Zebra, reticulated giraffes, more than 300 elphants among others. Yet the it is also a home to birds like Ostriches, soaring Falcons, humble sun birds.
Apart from morning and evening game drives, Lewa Downs Wildlife Conservancy also offers bushwalks with local guides, tracking Lions, visiting Lake Rutundu for fly-fishing excursion, and visiting the Boas tribe in their local setting.
Itinerary summery for 4 day Lewa Downs Wildlife Conservancy
Day 1: Drive to Lewa Downs Conservancy
Early in the morning, leave Nairobi National Park behind and proceed northwards to Lewa Downs Wildlife Conservancy, where you will arrive for lunch at the camp followed by an afternoon rest.
At 1500hrs, you will set off for the game drive, where you will encounter roaming elephants along with giant Elands, reticulated giraffes, the big cats, and large numbers of Black.
This conservancy, like Lake Nakuru, is also a home for both Black and White Rhinos, grevy Zebra and also holds 25% of the world’s remaining population of greater Kudu as well as over 440 bird species.
Return for dinner and overnight at the Lodge.
Day 2 & 3: Full Day Excursion.
On this day, you can choose from activities which include: Nature walks with a professional and experienced tracker, go on ahorse back riding, trot with a maasai worrior. You can also opt to visit for a community weaving, visit furniture workshops, exploring organic gardens where fresh fruits and vegetables for the lodges are sourced.
Besides, one can also paly tennis, explore the archeological sites around, swim in the pool or just sit on the terrace and watch the big 5 from a distance using Binoculars.
Day 4: Depart For Nairobi
Early in the morning, you will leave for the game drive at 0630hrs after a hot cup of coffee or tea. Spend upto 0900hrs on a game drive, then after return for a delicious and heavy breakfast
You will be dropped at your post safari accommodation or at the airport for your scheduled home flight.
