Detailed Itinerary of the 13 days Tanzania Fly in Safari

Day 1: Transfer to Zanzibar Airport – Flight to Serengeti

From Zanzibar, fly to Sereonera airstrip, crossing over the Indian ocean, Ngorongoro conservation area, and the never ending plains of the Serengeti. Upon landing, you will be picked by Aloyo Safaris expert driver guide in a 4×4 pop up roof  car, after then he will drive you  to Serengeti National Park with an enroute picnic lunch break. You will arrive in the late evening in your reserved hotel, after a long afternoon game drive. The views from the 4×4 car with a pop up roof is with a question undeniably beautiful. Dinner and overnight at the park.

Day 2: Full Day Serengeti National Park

Immediately you are done with breakfast, the never ending plains gives you a great opportunity to  view its wildlife, where you are expected to see; the elands, elephants, buffalos, topi, zebras, solitary leopards, solitary leopards, lions, cheetahs, Hyenas, aardwolf, Gaudy agama lizards, rock Hyraxes, black Rhinoceros, waterbuck, baboon, African dog, serval cat as well as the Kongonis. There are also many other bird species that will be spotted including; bizarre secretary, kori bustard, crowned crane, marabou stork, love birds, and the martial eagle. You will return to the lodge later in the evening for a delicious dinner & overnight afterwards

Day 3: Hot Air Balloon Safaris

Wake up early for a cup of tea or coffee and set off for your amazing hot air balloon safari by 5:00am,  there after you will be transferred  to the starting point of Balloon safari, where you will be briefed about the regulations. You will then take off with the balloon to view the park at an aerial view. You will be able see the predators catching their prey in their natural habitat. Other animals to be spotted include large herds of elephants, Zebras, Giraffes, Impalas, Topi, Lions, Leopards, Cheetahs, waterbuck, wild dogs, jackals, warthogs, hippos, Nile crocodiles, Gazelle among others. You will be return ed to the tourist center, where you meet up with your driver guide, who will drive you back to the lodge for lunch.

Later in the Afternoon, you go for another game drive and later return to the lodge at sunset.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Maasai Bomas Visit

Have your morning breakfast, after then you will meet your driver-guide to start the morning game drive in the Serengeti Golden plains to view more wildlife action. You will then return to your lodge, to refresh, relax, and have lunch. After lunch, you will be driven to the Masai Village to experience the unique culture and life of the Masai People who live within the Park.  Return to the lodge to  refresh, relax, have dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 5: Roadtrip to Lake Natron

Wake up for a good breakfast, thereafter you will head to Lake Natron, driving for 150 km roadtrip, passing through different kinds of landscapes to  Ol Doinyo Lengai (the mountain of God). Though you travel on a rough road, you will be rewarded by incredible Maasai with their brightly-coloured dresses and beadwork ornaments  along your way.  You will reach late in the evening for dinner and a restful night, under the stars of Lake Natron.

Day 6: Flamingo Lake Walk

Following a rest full night, you will wake up for breakfast, and leave for a walk around the shores of Lake Natron, as you will be guided by a Masai  tribesman . You will explore the surrounding of the lake as lookout for the flamingos. Lake Natron is the most important and all year round breeding site for lesser flamingos in East Africa. In every the breeding season, Lake Natron approximately 2.5 million flamingos, whose egg-laying and hatching starts from September to January, although most of this occurs between October and (early) December.  Lake Natron also hosts few bird species due to the lake’s alkaline waters. Head back for lunch at the lodge and relax  or take a dip in the pool,  while enjoying the magnificent views of the still-active volcano Ol Doinyo Lengai.

Day 7: Roadtrip to Lake Manyara

Wake up early for a hearty breakfast,  and depart for Lake Manyara, reaching around midday for lunch in your reserved lodge.

Lake Manyara is popularly known for its for its tree-climbing lions, besides you can also look out for spotted elephants, hippos, wildebeest, buffalo and giraffes, among other species. Lake manayra national Park is also filled with Pink flamingos which provide a splash of colour. The flamingoes are 1 out of more than 400 bird species recorded  in the park.

After Lunch, pay a visit to the Mto Wambu culture in the Northern Tanzania. This village is an incredible home to approximately 1800 inhabitants, who emerged from 120 different tribes. You will experience and learn more about their lives, visiting their farms, huts, artisan shops and the local market, as well as their hospitality as well as sharing extensively  about their culture.  After all activities return to the hotel to relax, dinner and an overnight rest.

Day 8: Full Day in Lake Manyara National Park

Wake up early for breakfast at the lodge, then proceed for your morning game drive where you spot a number of wild game; lions, wildebeests, hippos, zebras, impalas, leopards, elephants, giraffes, warthogs, dik-dik, baboons as well as the monkeys. Besides wild game, the park is also a home to  various bird species such as cormorants, pelicans, flamingos, storks etcetera. Enjoy your lunch, after which you can go for the cultural/community tour or a canoeing tour.

Day 9: Cultural Tour to in Mto Wa Mbu Village in Manyara.

Taking a walk throughout the village offers you a chance to get closer to the African culture. On this day 5, you will spend the whole day in a beautiful village of Mto wa mbu exploring, discovering, learning and experiencing the African people`s culture and their amazing traditions. Overnight at Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge. Breakfast, Lunch and dinner included.

Mto wa Mbu is a small, but busy agricultural village surrounded by spectacular scenery and great diversity of amazing cultural activities that can add great memorable experiences to your safari in the northern circuit. The village borders the beautiful Lake Manyara National park but also a gateway to the famous Ngorongoro crater and Serengeti National Park. Rice and Banana including distinctive red banana are major crops in this spectacular village.

Trekking through the village is an opportunity that gets you closer to African culture. The tour involves visiting local people in their homesteads, learning of their culture and experiencing a number of activities that make their living for example making and testing local beer made from Banana, Testing of local food at one of the villager’s home among others.

Experiencing the Makonde woodcarving and secret to the tribe painting techniques and many other insights including the unique interesting Maasai Market that take place every week on Thursday afternoon.

 

Day 10:  Drive to Ngorongoro Crater

Following your morning breakfast, depart Lake manyara for Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you will have lunch at your lodge. The lodge sits on the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater from where you get spectacular views of the collapsed volcano.

After here, you will set off for an afternoon tour of the crater. The drive starts with a 600 m descent to the crater floor. Covering 260 sq km, the crater alone is an attraction of its own, and regarded one amongst the wonders of the Natural world. The crater supports the annual resident population of a variety of wildlife and birdlife. You will have no trouble spotting lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo among other animal species, while plain animals includes- wildebeest, zebra reedbuck, Thompson gazelle etcetera. Yet in the late afternoon, you will ascend the crater returning to the lodge for dinner and an overnight at Simba campsite.

Day 11, 12: Ngorongoro Crater

Be sure to wake up early today, so there is no delay on your descent into the famous Ngorongoro Crater. As soon as you arrive in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you will be amazed by the beauty around you. Even more so when you arrive at the edge of the crater and take in the amazing view over one of the natural wonders of this world.

The crater of this inactive volcano is approximately 3 million years old, 20 square km in size, and the largest unbroken volcanic caldera in the world. Due to its natural borders, the wildlife in the crater is amazing.

The crater is home to the Big Five and offers a good chance to spot the rare black rhino. Throw hyena, zebra, buffalo, and elephants into the mix, and you have the perfect canvas for a pretty awesome safari experience. At the end of the afternoon, you head back to the lodge, Africa Safari Lake Manyara, for a well-deserved night’s sleep.

Day 13: Fly to Arusha or Zanzibar

Enjoy your last breakfast at the hotel  and embark on your drive to Sereonera airstrip, to catch your flight back to Arusha.
