Day By Day Detailed itinerary For 11 Days Tanzania Hot Air Balloon Safari

Day #1:Arrival in Arusha

On arrival, you will be met by a representative from Aloyo Safaris, who will brief you about your 11 days Tanzania Balloon Safaris and get transferred to a designated lodge in Arusha

Day 2: Transfer to Tarangire National Park

Wake up early for breakfast, then depart for Tarangire National Park, where you will arrive in time for lunch at your reserved wildlife lodge. Relax after lunch, then later go for an afternoon game drive.

Comprising of giant baobab trees, rolling savannah and acacia parkland, Tarangire national park is popularly known for its vast wildlife population, which is most beautiful in the dry season between June & September. It is during this period that hundreds of thousands of  wildebeest, zebra, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, and Oryx move from the dry Maasai steppe to the Tarangire River to look for water, while the predators, lions, leopard among other cats- as is the custom in the savanna follow closely.  More than 350 bird species have also been recorded in the park. Later in the evening, you will be returned to your hotel for dinner and an overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Manyara National Park

Following your morning breakfast, you will set for a 3-4 hours’ drive to Lake Manyara national Park on a private 4×4 pop up roof jeep. You will reach in time for lunch, thereafter proceed for a game viewing with in the park where you will spot animals like; the zebras, giraffes, birds, hippos, among others. later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Full Day Game viewing at Lake Manyara

Wake up early for breakfast at the lodge, then proceed for your morning game drive where you spot a number of wild game; lions, wildebeests, hippos, zebras, impalas, leopards, elephants, giraffes, warthogs, dik-dik, baboons as well as the monkeys. Besides wild game, the park is also a home to  various bird species such as cormorants, pelicans, flamingos, storks etcetera. Enjoy your lunch, after which you can go for the cultural/community tour or a canoeing tour.

Dinner & overnight rest at your lodge

Day 5:  Cultural Tour to in Mto Wa Mbu Village in Manyara.

Taking a walk throughout the village offers you a chance to get closer to the African culture. On this day 5, you will spend the whole day in a beautiful village of Mto wa mbu exploring, discovering, learning and experiencing the African people`s culture and their amazing traditions. Overnight at Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge. Breakfast, Lunch and dinner included.

Mto wa Mbu is a small, but busy agricultural village surrounded by spectacular scenery and great diversity of amazing cultural activities that can add great memorable experiences to your safari in the northern circuit. The village borders the beautiful Lake Manyara National park but also a gateway to the famous Ngorongoro crater and Serengeti National Park. Rice and Banana including distinctive red banana are major crops in this spectacular village. Trekking through the village is an opportunity that gets you closer to African culture. The tour involves visiting local people in their homesteads, learning of their culture and experiencing a number of activities that make their living for example making and testing local beer made from Banana, Testing of local food at one of the villager’s home among others. Experiencing the Makonde woodcarving and secret to the tribe painting techniques and many other insights including the unique interesting Maasai Market that take place every week on Thursday afternoon.

 

Day 6:  Drive to Ngorongoro Crater

Following your morning breakfast, depart Lake manyara for Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you will have lunch at your lodge. The lodge sits on the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater from where you get spectacular views of the collapsed volcano.

After here, you will set off for an afternoon tour of the crater. The drive starts with a 600 m descent to the crater floor. Covering 260 sq km, the crater alone is an attraction of its own, and regarded one amongst the wonders of the Natural world. The crater supports the annual resident population of a variety of wildlife and birdlife. You will have no trouble spotting lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo among other animal species, while plain animals includes- wildebeest, zebra reedbuck, Thompson gazelle etcetera. Yet in the late afternoon, you will ascend the crater returning to the lodge for dinner and an overnight at Simba campsite.

Day 7: Ngorongoro – Serengeti National Park

Wake up early for breakfast, then set off for Serengeti National Park driving via the Olduvai Gorge. Olduvai Gorge is the prehistoric site where Dr. Louis Leakey discovered the remains of Homo habilis (“Handy man”) also known as as mankind’s first step on the path of human evolution. You will arrive in Serengeti National Park in time for lunch time.

Later in the afternoon, leave for your afternoon game drive games drive in the park. The Serengeti is gradually the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world. Within its 14,763 km2 area, it inhabits 3 million large mammal, among which include zebras, wildebeests, elands, giraffes not forgetting the big 5. And so for the big five: elephants, lion, buffalo, leopard and rhinos.

Serengeti National Park is most popular for its magnificent events in the natural world- the great annual wildebeest migration, which starts around June when more than one million wildebeest, zebra and gazelle head for the Maasai Mara in Kenya and Ngorongoro Highlands to look for fresh grass and water. The park also hosts other big cats such as wild dogs, jackal and hyena. Serengeti also hosts more than 350 bird species both migratory and resident. In the evening you will have dinner and overnight at your reserved lodge in Serengeti.

Days 8 : Serengeti National Park – Full Day


An exciting game drive in Serengeti National Park

On day 8 , you will have an early breakfast, and depart for the morning game drive so as to catch up with the nocturnal animals returning from hunting and other game including; the lions. You will spot many animals during the game drive such as; the eland, elephants, buffalos, topi, zebras, solitary leopards, solitary leopards, lions, cheetahs, Hyenas, aardwolf, Gaudy agama lizards, rock Hyraxes, black Rhinoceros, waterbuck, baboon, African dog, serval cat as well as the Kongonis. There are also many other bird species that will be spotted including; bizarre secretary, kori bustard, crowned crane, marabou stork, love birds, and the martial eagle. You will return to the lodge later in the evening for dinner & overnight afterwards

Day 9: Hot Air Balloon Safaris

Wake up early for a cup of tea or coffee and set off for your amazing hot air balloon safari by 5:00am,  there after you will be transferred  to the starting point of Balloon safari, where you will be briefed about the regulations. You will then take off with the balloon to view the park at an aerial view. You will be able see the predators catching their prey in their natural habitat. Other animals to be spotted include large herds of elephants, Zebras, Giraffes, Impalas, Topi, Lions, Leopards, Cheetahs, waterbuck, wild dogs, jackals, warthogs, hippos, Nile crocodiles, Gazelle among others. You will be return ed to the tourist center, where you meet up with your driver guide, who will drive you back to the lodge for lunch.

Later in the Afternoon, you go for another game drive and later return to the lodge at sunset.

Day 10: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Maasai Bombas Visit

Have your morning breakfast, after then you will meet your driver-guide to start the morning game drive in the Serengeti Golden plains to view more wildlife action. You will then return to your lodge, to refresh, relax, and have lunch. After lunch, you will be driven to the Masai Village to experience the unique culture and life of the Masai People who live within the Park.  Return to the lodge to  refresh, relax, have dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 11: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater

Wake up early in the morning for breakfast, check out of the hotel and depart for Arusha with an enroute game drive. Upon your arrival, you will either be dropped at you preffered location or at the airport to catch up with your flight back home.
