4 days Virunga Gorilla & Nyiragongo Safari is an ultimate 3 nights, 4 days Virunga gorilla trekking and Mount Nyiragongo volcano hiking.  This 4 days Congo gorilla trekking & Nyiragongo safari in Virunga National Park allows you to spend 1 hour in the presence of the gorillas, and 1 overnight at the Nyiragongo summit.  The 4 days Virunga gorilla trekking & Nyiragongo hiking safari, also named, “Mikeno Mist Package”, will start from Kigali, alongside an enroute city tour, to Virunga National Park for 1 day Mountain Gorilla trekking & Mount Nyiragongo climbing.

Day by Day Safari Itinerary

Day #1: Arrival-Transfer to Virunga National Park

Pick up will be in the morning after breakfast, or on arrival, then followed by a 4 days briefing about the 4 days Virunga Gorilla & Nyiragongo  trekking safari Congo tour.

Embark on a city tour enroute to see the top attractions that Kigali has to offer, as well as lunch, before you proceed to Gisenyi to cross to Goma through Grande Barrier. After clearance, proceed to the lodge to check in.

Dinner and overnight at: Mikeno Lodge/Bukima Tented Camp/ Kibumba

Day #2:  Mountain Gorilla Trekking Virunga National Park Congo

Day 2 starts with breakfast early in the morning, then after proceed with your packed meal to the Virunga National Park head quarters for briefing about the gorilla trekking rules and regulations. After then, you will be allocated a gorilla group (8 people) to trek one particular family assigned, then proceed on a drive to the starting point. Don’t forget to hire a porter to help carry your bag/luggage.

Gorilla trekking schedule is unpredictable, but it may take between 2-6 hours depending on how far the stated gorilla family has relocated from the previous position. Expect to spot and encounter other mammal and bird species, including : primates, mammals, birds, butterflies and more. On finding the mountain Gorillas, you will given at most 1 hour to spend time with them, while taking photographs, interact with the gorillas in Virunga National Park habitat.

Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Day #3: Ascend to Nyiragongo Summit

On Day 3 , You will wake up early for breakfast, then proceed along with your hiking gear  for briefing at the Park headquarters. You will then be driven, along with the armed rangers to Kibati border post.

Climbing up the Mount Nyiragongo then commences at 1000 hours. Enroute, you will meet numerous mammal , birds species, as well as enjoying breathtaking views of the Virnga ranges while you elevate to the highest point of the peak.

At the peak (4370m) upon reaching, you will celebrate victory as you take beautiful photos, then later have dinner at the summit, and a goodnight rest in one of the cabins.

Day #4: Descend Nyiragongo and Depart.

Wake up very early in the morning for breakfast,  then start descending to to the foot hills of Mount Nyiragongo  to Kibati.

Your will then be driven back to Kigali, to be dropped at Kigali International Airport,  or at your post 4 days accommodationin Kigali
