Detailed Itinerary of the 3 days chimpanzee tracking Safari
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park national Park
On arrival, you will be picked by our company driver guide, who directly transfer you to Kibale National Park on a 4-5 hours drive , via Mubende to Fort-portal, where you will have lunch. You will be impressed by the sunning scenery like the terraced farmlands, the beautiful landscapes, the banana and tea plantations, local people, traditional homesteads among others.
Folowing your time, incase you still haven ample time, our driver guide can will drive to see the Amabere ganyina Mwiru, the Kings’ Palece and the Royal tombs in Karambi. Proceed then to the lodge, where you will check, enjoy your dinner and have an overnight sleep.
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and afternoon Nature walk at Bigodi wetland Sanctury
Following your breakfast, our driver guide will take transfer you to the Kanyanchu Visitors center for Chimpanzee tracking briefing about the rules and regulations. You will first register at the reception , after which the ranger guide will take you through the do’s and don’t for chimpanzee trekking and tracking. Later on, you will be divided into groups of 8 person, and by the help of the arranger guide, you will be led to the starting point of tracking chimpanzees.
Proceed then with your search, and upon finding them, you will be allowed to stay in their presence for at most 1 hour, beyond which is not allowed. You will watch them swing from one tree branch to another, feed, breastfeed, play among others.
After here, return to the park headquarters to pick your chimpanzee tracking certificate, and later on head for lunch at your hotel of residence.
The driver will then drive back for a guided nature walk in Bigodi swamp. Bigodi wetlands sanctuary is one of the best places to spot birds in Uganda. It is alsoa natural home to a number of primates like colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, grey-cheeked monkeys, and other mammals like the swamp antelope (Sitatunga), Bush bucks, Mongooses, Bush pigs and Otters. The Bigodi Swamp is also a haven to the Papyrus Gonolek, Hornbills, Weaver birds, Waxbills, Kingfishers, Cuckoos, Flycatchers and the Great Blue Turaco.
Day 3: Depart for Kampala or Entebbe international Airport
On this day, You will along with the driver guide depart from your hotel to Kampala or Entebbe international Airport for your scheduled flight back home.
After breakfast, you will checkout and proceed for a village walk, where you will learn about their customs and cultural heritage. You will trek through the village or visit one or two of the homes to meet the elders who have comprehensive knowledge about the area and its history. You can even visit the church, school and eat some of the local food, and later drive to Kampala, with en-route lunch stop over at Igongo cultural center.
