Detailed Itinerary For Nyerere Ruaha & Mafia Island  Beach Honeymoon Safari

Day 1-3: Nyerere National Park

You will begin your exciting safari journey the moment you touch down in Tanzania at Dar es Salaam Airport. Find your guide, get to a domestic airport, and take a short-haul trip to Siwandu, where you’ll spend a night. Situated in the breathtaking Nyerere National Park, Siwandu is the ideal starting point for exploring Tanzania’s most untamed yet little-known game reserve.

Take game drives to witness the massive herds of elephants and visit the Rufiji River, which is the biggest river in East Africa and is habitat to Africa’s largest hippo and crocodile populations. Make your way back to the camp for some relaxation after an exciting river safari or bush stroll.

Seated on the edge of Lake Nzerakera in an open palm forest, Siwandu offers a picture-perfect setting for a sundowner from your balcony.

Day 3-5: Explore Ruaha National Park

To get to Ruaha National Park, head to the bush airstrip after breakfast for your domestic flight. Upon arrival, a representative will be there to bring you to Jongomero Camp.

In your spare time, go on game drives, explore the river, and try to identify the many bird species. Enjoy a picnic or a delectable bush meal while watching the majestic hippos splashing around in the river.
Spend the remainder of your free time lounging in the camp’s natural rock pool. Comfortable thatched tents with private viewing decks are where you spend your nights.

Day 5 – 7: Private Palm Lined Beaches

A private island beach experience awaits you after your safari section of the vacation ends with a final early morning meal and drive to the airport!
Following a brief stopover in Dar es Salaam, you take a 45-minute flight via Mafia Island to Songo Songo Island airfield. Once there, you will board a tuk tuk to the jetty from whence you will cruise to Fanjove Private Island.

This picture-perfect, eco-friendly haven is situated on the Songo Songo Archipilago, not far from Tanzania’s shores. The palm-lined island has a limited capacity to guarantee a private stay, measuring just one kilometer in length (0.62 miles) and 400 meters (1312 feet) in width.

Unlike the planned, action-packed safari days, your Fanjove days calm down and allow you to gradually transition into genuine rest and renewal. Take walks around the island, get a mask and snorkel to see the underwater life, or get in a kayak to explore the coastline. You can also enjoy fresh meals and refreshing drinks while lounging on the beach with a book and occasionally dipping into the sparkling ocean.

Day 8: Depart Tanzania

It’s time to either return home or continue your journey after spending two full days in paradise. Once on the island, get on your way to Songo Songo island airfield to catch your flight back to Dar es Salaam Airport, marking the conclusion of your safari experience.
