Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi
Arrive in Nairobi, Kenya’s vibrant capital. After clearing customs, you’ll be transferred to Hemingways Nairobi, a luxurious boutique hotel situated in the serene suburb of Karen. Spend the rest of the day relaxing after your flight, enjoying the hotel’s amenities, or explore the nearby attractions like the Giraffe Centre or David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Enjoy a delightful dinner at the hotel’s fine dining restaurant.
Day 2-3: Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, depart for Amboseli National Park, a journey of approximately four hours. Known for its large elephant herds and stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Amboseli National Park offers incredible photo opportunities. You’ll stay at Ol Tukai Lodge, a beautiful lodge offering panoramic views of the mountain and the park. Spend the next two days on morning and evening game drives, where you might spot elephants, lions, cheetahs, and a variety of bird species. Between game drives, relax by the pool or enjoy a nature walk around the lodge.
Day 4-5: Lake Nakuru National Park
Depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, driving through the scenic Great Rift Valley. Check-in at Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge, set on a hillside overlooking the lake. Lake Nakuru is famous for its flamingo population and the chance to spot rhinos. Spend your time on game drives exploring the park’s diverse landscapes, from dense forests to open savannahs, spotting wildlife such as buffaloes, zebras, and the rare Rothschild giraffe. In the evenings, enjoy the lodge’s hospitality, with bush-themed dinners and Maasai cultural performances.
Day 6-7: Maasai Mara National Reserve
After an early breakfast, drive to the Maasai Mara, arguably Kenya’s most famous game reserve. Stay at Mara Serena Safari Lodge, which is strategically located in the Mara Triangle, providing excellent access to wildlife-rich areas. Over the next two days, enjoy extensive game drives in search of the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino). If you’re visiting between July and October, you may witness the Great Migration, a spectacular natural event where millions of wildebeest and zebras cross the Mara River. Opt for an early morning hot air balloon safari for a unique perspective of the Mara, followed by a champagne breakfast in the bush. In the evening, unwind with sun downers as you watch the sun set over the Mara.
Day 8: Return to Nairobi and Departure
Enjoy a final early morning game drive, followed by a hearty breakfast at the lodge. Afterward, you’ll be transferred back to Nairobi by road or a short flight from the Mara airstrip. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you can do some last-minute shopping or visit the Karen Blixen Museum, depending on your flight time. Later, you’ll be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your memorable Kenyan safari adventure.
