Chimpanzee Tracking Tours in Kenya

Chimpanzees  in Kenya are not tracked, but seen in the most popular sweetwaters sanctuary in the Olpegeta Conservancy. The sweetwaters Chimpanzee sanctuary  was put in place with a mutual a contract between Kenya Wildlife Service,  the Olpegeta conservancy & the Jane Goodall Institute, with a common goal of providing a secure shelter for orphaned, and traumatic chimpanzees from both West and Central Africa.

Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary is a bespeak constituent of the Pan African Sanctuary Alliance(PASA). The Alliance  is made up of 18 sanctuaries from 12 African countries, who are presently taking care of more than 800 orphaned and rescued chimpanzees.

PASA’s major concern  is to protect chimpanzees, other primates in their their natural habitats through providing public education  and advocating for political cooperation.

The sanctuary has: for a long time rescued chimpanzees from poachers, snatched them from unrealistic situations, while others come with terrible injuries resulting from human abuse.

Visiting Chimpanzees at the Sweetwaters Sanctuary In Kenya

Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary usually opens for visitation between 0830hrs – 12:30 hours and 1400hrs – 1630 hours. Chimpanzees in the Sanctuary are cautiously treated back to health, thanks to the 24/7 support from the Veterinary, bracing the quarantine enclosure. Once they have recovered, the chimpanzees are then set free to join , one of the two large Chimpanzee groups in the sanctuary enclosures, which is divided by Ewaso Nyiro  River. Chimpanzees have scheduled times for feeding, among other daily chores like exploring, climbing, getting along with other chimpanzees, before retiring in their enclosures in the evenings
