Detailed Itinerary For 5 days Mount Kenya Lake Tour
Day 1: Nairobi-Transfer to Lake Ellis Camp 3470 m(3hrs trek)
Journey early to Lake Ellis, after an early morning pick up from either your hotel or Airport in Nairobi. You will reach in time ready for lunch in Chogoria town, as well as packing your luggage on to your transfer jeep to the starting point at chogoria gate. Thereafter, you will traverse for 9km through the forest terrain which is usually muddy on rainy season, dirty/dusty during the dry season, arriving after 3 hours to Lake Ellis Camp, which is worthy its captivating beauty, to all climbers on this 5 days Mount Kenya Lake tour.
Dinner & overnight at Lake Ellis Camp
Day 2: Trek From Lake Ellis to Lake Michaelson at 4200m (6 hrs trek)
Following your morning breakfast, Embark on your climb up through the glades of Montane forest on the western side of Lake Ellis, to the moorland, which connects to the main Chogoria trail route. You will have lunch at the campsites, since the cooks always move faster ahead in order to reach the campsite so as to prepare lunch early. Trekkers also get the chance to enjoy the captivating views of the of the Vivienne Falls & the Gorges valley, as you descend slowly to the spectacular camp located closeby Lake Michaelson for dinner and an overnight.

Day 3: Lake Michaelson To Simba Tarn 4600m( 3 hrs)
Have breakfast early, so as to set off by 0730hrs for a very short trek. Leave Lake Michaelson behind, and ascend further into the Alpine Zone which is composed of Rock & Ice, as you proceed closer to the eminent Mount Kenya peaks, as you leave behind the breathtaking giant lobelias and groundsels and onto glacial moraine. The final descent of the short sharp scree leads down to Simba Tarn where you will settle for dinner & overnight. Anight here is always cold, which requires more warm layers & extra clothing
Day 4: Ascend From Simba Tarn To Point Lenana 4895m, Descend To old moses 3300m( 9 hrs trek)
Rise up to a hearty warm breakfast, so as to depart for point Lenana as early as 0500 hrs. It will take 2 hours to climb up to the summit point at 4985m of Pint Lenana, where you will embrace the impressive sights of the magnificent Nelion & Batian Peaks, as the ravished morning sun rises. Chances are that, you might also cath a glimpse of the majestic views of Mount Kilimanjaro, situated 400kms away. You will spend about 35 to 45 minutes of capturing beautiful moments at the top of the mountain, after then you will embark on your descent, downwards to Shipton Camp for a sumptuous breakfast, before continuing further down to Old Moses or Judimier camp for dinner & an overnight.
Day 5: Trek From OLD Moses to Sirimon Gate Nairobi- 2 hrs
Breakfast will be served, after which you will start trekking downhill through a 9km rainforest trail to Sirimon park gate at 2,600m where you will find the driver guide waiting to return you back to your booked accommodation in Nairobi
