Detailed 10 Day Rwanda & Tanzania Safari
Days 1, 2, and 3: Gorilla Tracking in Volcanoes National Park
Upon landing in Kigali, the safari driver will receive you, for a transit through the scenic cultivated valleys to reach Volcanoes National Park. Spend the entire afternoon, relaxing by the lodge as you await the ultimate. The Volcanoes National Park stands as a notable achievement in Africa’s wildlife conservation efforts. Since the 1990s, monitoring of gorillas in this region has been established, and the revenue generated from this initiative has enabled Rwanda to both protect and increase the gorilla population. The revenue collected from tourism has enabled Rwanda to develop additional national parks and facilitate the reintroduction of species that were formerly extinct in the country.
Join other trackers at Kinigi headquarters very early in the morning, located at the foot hills of Volcanoes National Park for briefing on the slopes of Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park before heading for gorilla tracking expedition. During briefing, you will acquire insights of the gorilla family your group will be tracking, after which you will proceed to the lush forest to commence your mountain gorilla trekking. Trackers advance ahead of the team to locate the gorilla family, enabling them to provide accurate guidance. Upon locating the gorilla group, you will have the opportunity to spend an hour observing them as they engage in their typical activities. This represents a premier primate encounter in Africa, experienced by only few selected individuals.
Monitoring gorillas in the terrain of Volcanoes National Park can present challenges, therefore it is advisable to be physically prepared prior to embarking on a gorilla expedition.
Day 4: Kigali City Tour
Prior to your return to Kigali, you’ll have the opportunity to engage in supplementary adventures within Volcanoes National Park like: visiting the gorilla guardians for a cultural retreat or heading for Golden Monkey tracking. The visit Kigali Genocide Memorial enroute to your overnight stay accommodation. The Genocide Memorial in Kigali serves as a significant memorial to the grave atrocities that occurred in Rwanda during the 1990s.
Days 5, 6, and 7 – Serengeti National Park
Board an early flight to Tanzania and subsequently travel to Serengeti National Park from Kigali. We will suggest a lodging place within Serengeti National Park based on the season. The great wildebeest migration is ever in motion as it tracks the rainfall. Commencing in the far south in December, where gestation occurs, they move northward through the western corridor, ultimately arriving at the northern Serengeti and Masai Mara in June, July, and August. They thereafter commence their migration southward down the Eastern corridor in September or October, arriving in the Ndutu region in December to give birth.
Around the park, there are several options to choose from, including luxurious mobile campgrounds, more rustic mobile sites, and permanent lodges. Morning and afternoon game drives in pursuit of the plentiful wildlife are the primary activities here. The Serengeti is a quintessential East African savanna characterized by vast expanses of grassland and populated by substantial herds of fauna, including gazelles, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, topis, rhinos, and others. The Serengeti is among Africa’s premier locations for predators where Lions, leopards, and cheetahs are often observed owing to the plentiful availability of prey species.
Days: 8,9, and 10: The National Park of Rubondo Island
You can reach Rubondo Island in the southern part of Lake Victoria by taking a short flight from Serengeti National Park. As part of your primate safari, make sure to explore this off-the-beaten-path hidden gem; it will be well worth it. Obviously, you want to see the chimpanzees on Rubondo Island.
The Rubondo Island is located far away that nobody lives there, except for the park rangers, researchers, and employees of the island’s one and only camp. The endangered sitatunga antelope, chimpanzees, and timid elephants also call the island’s wooded interior home. Many years ago, the island was freed here, and now it is a sanctuary for species. Tourists now have the unique chance to participate in the chimpanzee habituation program, which began in the 1960s when a professor from the Frankfurt Zoological Society released sixteen chimps onto the island.
