Detailed Itinerary Volcanoes Nyungwe and Akagera National Park Safari | 7 days
Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest national Park
On this day, you will be met by our company driver guide, then after be transferd to Nyungwe forest national Park with stop overs at the Butare Museum, and the king’s Palace Visit. You will have lunch and then proceed to Nyungwe Forest national Park, where you will check into your lodge, and later on enjoy dinner and an over night stay.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking & Canopy Walk
On Day 2 of the 7 days Rwanda safari, you will a full hour of meeting face to face with Chimpanzees, when you find them in the tropical forest of Nyungwe National Park. You will rise up early for Breakfast, then head for briefing at the park headquarters about the chimpanzee trekking code of conduct. Along with the park guide, you will enter to trek chimpanzees for about 2-6 hours depending on their location, and later on return to the lodge for lunch.
Following your lunch, you will head for canopy walk on a bridge on top of Nyungwe Forest National park, after which you return back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight.
Day 3: Journey to Volcanoes national Park
On this day you will switch from the southern province to the Northern Province. You will wake up very early in the morning on day 3 of the 7 days Rwanda safari, and then set off for Kigali, where you will stop over for lunch. There after you will proceed northwards to Volcanoes National Park, arriving in the park in the evening. Have dinner and an overnight at the Lodge.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking and Iby’Iwachu cultural visit
Following your morning breakfast, you will be driven to the park headquarters for briefing about the code of conduct for gorilla trekking, thereafter, dive into the light forest of volcanoes National Park with the park guide in a group of 8 member. Gorilla trekking takes about 2 to 6 hours depending on how far the gorillas have moved. You will have 1 complete hour with them, maintaining a 7m distance apart, after which you will head back for lunch at the lodge.
In the afternoon, you will proceed to visit the Iby’Iwachu cultural village to witness the Rwandan culture, through their traditional dances, story telling, making local brew among others, after which you will retire at the lodge for dinner and an overnight.
Day 5: Golden Monkey Tracking & transfer to Kigali
Have an early morning breakfast, and later proceed for briefing at about Golden Monkey trekking, where you will spend another 1 complete hour with the Golden monkeys. You will then return to the lodge for lunch, after which you will proceed with your journey to Kigali for a brief city tour.
Dinner and an overnight at your preferred Lodge.
Day 6: transfer to Akagera National Park
At 7:00am, you will depart for Akagera national Park. Depending on your short breaks enroute, you will reach the park gate for clearance, and then check into your hotel for lunch. The driver guide along with an experienced Akagera National Park guide will pick you up after lunch, and drive to the briefing point, after which you will proceed for the your afternoon Boat ride on Lake Ihema, as you lookout for animals like Hippos, crocodiles and several animals coming to the park for watering.
Return to the Lodge for Dinner and an overnight
Day 7: Game drive in Akagera national park and return to Kigali
Rise Up early for breakfast, and later set for a half day game drive in the wilderness of the Akagera national Park along with packed lunch. The game drive on this wildlife tour will be in our custom made 4×4 Jeep with pop up roof safari land cruiser that will allow you to have breathtaking view of the wildlife as your driver guide takes you through the trail. Expect to spot animals like Elephants, Giraffes, Buffaloes, Topi, Zebras, Impala, Lions and the rare black Rhinos.. The park is also a varied habitat bird with over 500 species in the park, hence suitable for avid birders. From then, you will drive direct to Kigali National Park, where you will proceed to the Airport to catch up with your flight back home
