Kibale Forest National Park-popularly known as “the primate capital of the world” is located in Western Uganda. The park is 795 square kilometers in area, was gazetted in 1932, and was established in 1993. The park joins with queen Elizabeth on a180km wildlife corridor.

Since the park is Africa’s most dominant ecotourism and primate safari destination, protecting the largest concentration of habituated chimpanzees and twelve other species of primates, Kibale Forest national Park is home to 13 species of primates.

The 3 days Chimpanzee Habituation Experience (CHEX)  in Kibale Forest National Park, offers the opportunity to stay up-close with the chimpanzees  for a half-day or full-day in the presence of the chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park.

Besides following them and seeing them carry out their daily activities, you will also have incredible and memorable  photography moments with the chimps.

You also have enough time to identify them individually by their different markings and personalities and learn more about their group characteristics.

Departure

All-Inclusive. Your 3-day Chimpanzee Habituation experience in Kibale forest National Park includes park entrance fees, 1 chimpanzee habituation permit at @ 300 per person, all ground transportation, an English speaking guide or any other language(if requested), accommodations and meals.

We will pick you up from Entebbe Airport or your preferred accommodation in Kampala/Entebbe, in private customized 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep.

Detailed Itinerary For 3 Days Chimpanzee Habituation Experience in Kibale Forest National Park

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale  National Park National Park

An experienced safari guide from Aloyo Safaris will meet with you at Entebbe international Airport, or at your hotel of residence in Entebbe/Kampala. After then, along with him, you will be directly transfer to  Kibale National Park on a 4-5 hours drive , via Mubende to Fort-portal-a break over point for lunch.  You will be stunned by the incredible scenery including the terraced farmlands, the beautiful landscapes, banana and tea plantations, local people, traditional homesteads etc, as you proceed.

Following your time, in case you still have much time, our driver guide  will take you to see the Amabere ganyina Mwiru, the Kings’ Palace and the Royal tombs in Karambi. Continue then to the lodge, where you will check in, enjoy your dinner and have an overnight sleep.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience in Kibale Forest National park

On this day 2, you will head for a more strenuous walk, than the normal 1 hour Chimpanzee tracking, because the habituated chimpanzee communities are far deeper in the forests , separated from the busier trails.

Before dawn, you have tea or a cup of coffee, and set off for Kanyanchu Visitor center for chimpanzee habituation briefing, after which you will  proceed in the company of ranger guides at 6:00am to search for the chimpanzee community you have been assigned for this day’s habituation.

During the search, the ranger guides will be in contact with the trackers who had left early to find where the chimpanzees have settled.  Upon arrival in the area, you will watch these chimpanzees start their day by getting up from their nests, how they perform heir daily duties including hunting, feeding, caring for their young ones till  7pm when they build new nests and settle down for the night.

Besides, you  you also get the chance of taking incredible photographs of the chimps. It also allows you to meet face to face  with the chimpanzees as well as learning about their identities and personalities and their group dynamic.

However, Kibale Forest is home to numerous range of flora and fauna – and spending a full day in the park allows you to encounter much of this; elephants, buffaloes, bush pigs and birds among others.

Day 3: Depart for Kampala/Entebbe International Airport

Following your morning breakfast,   out and proceed for a village walk, where you will learn about some  cultural customs and heritage. Walk through the village or visit one or two of the homes to meet the elders who have comprehensive knowledge about the area and its history.

You can also visit the church, school and eat some of the local food, and later drive to Kampala, with en-route lunch stop over at Igongo  cultural center.
