Gorilla Trekking Sectors in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has 4 sectors of Gorilla Trekking: Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga & Nkuringo. Buhoma sector is the most popular and easiest, of them all. All sectors differ by altitude, and accessibility, although one can easily connect from one sector to another, despite their locations. That is to say, anyone from Nkuringo sector can trek gorillas in Rushaga, and one from Ruhija can access Buhoma for Gorilla trekking.
Mountain Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is managed by Experienced, and professional Park officials, who will provide you with the main guide, 2 ranger guides as well as 2 armed military rangers will accompany tourists (at most 8 in a group) to go gorilla trekking in any given sector as:

Buhoma sector In The Northern Part
Buhoma sector, the main headquarters is in the Northern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The Buhoma is suitably positioned very close to Kihihi Airstrip, 2 hours’ drive from Kabale town, and 4 hours to Isasha sector. Gorillas in this sector, are considered easiest to trek, among other sectors and also appropriate for older people.
Buhoma sector is the first trail head, established by Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) in 1993, attracting numerus numbers of tourist all year round. The sector has 4 Gorilla habituated family groups including Rushegura, Mubare, Habimanya, and Katwe.
Since the number of gorilla trekking tourists are limited to 8 to trek I gorilla family, 32 gorilla trekking permits are issued daily for 365/366 days.
Besides Gorilla Trekking, other activities within Buhoma sector include: Bird Watching, forest walks, cultural visits to the Batwa & Bakiga communities, Biking among others.
Ruhija Sector In The Eastern Part Of Bwindi
Ruhija sector is situated in the Eastern Part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with 3 gorilla habituated gorilla families ready for tourism including Oruogo, Kyaguiro, Bitukura, allowing UW to issue only 24 gorilla trekking permits per day. It is a more convenient sector for those approaching the park from the Queen Elizabeth National Park The Rihija sector is colder among all the 4 sectors. A part from Gorillas, one can also encounter Elephants, other activities in the sector include, Mountain biking, birding, cultural experiences from the Batwa or Bakiga.
Rushaga Gorilla Trekking Sector In The South
Rushaga is in the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with 5 gorilla habituated gorilla families of Kahungye, Mishaya, Busingye, Nshongi and Bweza, all of which are open for Gorilla trekking. The sector receives higher number of tourists, after Buhoma, because of its strategic location, and the possibility for both Gorilla trekking & Gorilla Habituation. 2 Gorilla families of, Bikyingi and Bushaho are still undergoing habituation, and Lake Mutanda visitors can go for a boat cruise is also nearby.

Nkuringo Sector in The South
Nkuringo Sector is set in Southern Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and protects 3 habituated gorilla family groups of Bushaho, Nkuringo Christmas excluding Posho Gorilla Family which is still under habituation. Nkuringo sector was the second trailhead to be established, after Buhoma by Uganda Wildlife Authority. Besides the major Gorilla trekking activity, Nkuringo also offers other activities such as; Birding, Nkuring village walk; Nature walks (along Kashasha River trail, Ivy trail, birding trail, Suma Water Trail, Buniga Forest Trail).
