The safari starts from Kampala with the first destination at Kibale Forest national Park, which spans 795 square kilometers is now the primate capital of the world, because of the 13 primates species.
The park is famed for its high concentration of chimpanzees, which are being tracked all year round. Besides chimpanzee tracking and habituation, the park also offers nature walks and birding at Bigodi wetland not forgetting other primates like the L’hoest monkeys, red tailed monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys among others
The Safari then continues to Queen Elizabeth national park, ”A medley of Wonders” Which is the most visited national park, that’s strategically located between Bwindi and Kibale national parks.
Queen Elizabeth receives good rains all year round, and earth movements and Volcanic eruptions formed crater lakes, gorges, forests and many other natural features that you will encounter during your visit. Trip Itinerary of the 7 Days Uganda Safari
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park – Tour Fort Portal
A driver guide from our company will pick you up early in the morning from your hotel to start your 7 days Uganda safari. Together with him, you will journey to Kibale forest national park. In about 4-5 hours drive, you will be driven through Mubende to Fort Portal, as you enjoy scenic views of the beautiful landscapes, terraced farmlands, banana, tree plantations and the local people. You will have lunch in fort Portal- the capital of tourism in Uganda, after then proceed to your lodge. You will relax, and later on have dinner and an overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi Swamp walk
The driver guide will pick you up from the lodge after your morning breakfast, and drive you to the park headquarters of Kanyanchu Visitors Center for briefing about the regulations of Chimpanzee tracking.
In a group of 8, the ranger will lead you to the forest to look for chimpanzees, which may take between 2-8 hours depending on how far the chimps may have moved and the groups physical strength.
On finding them, you will interact with them for a maximum of 1 hour, after which you will return to the visitors center to pick your chimpanzee tracking certificate.
Later in the Afternoon, the driver will take you to visit the Bigodi wetlands sanctuary for a nature walk and bird watching. The Bigodi swamp a natural home for the best spots of best bird watching spots in Uganda. Expect to see small monkeys, butterflies and much more.
Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge
Day 3: Head for Queen Elizabeth National Park – Game drive – Visit Kyambura Gorge
The driver will then proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park, with enroute game drive, then later check in with the lodge, refresh & head for lunch.
Have lunch, then after proceed to Kyambura Gorge for a nature walk, one of the incredible wonders of Uganda, which has a forest beneath. The Kyambura gorge is a home to creatures like the chimpanzees, Baboons, monkeys, hippos and birds. You will also glimpse the rare birds, trees and plants that have evolved to grow within the gorge. The guide will take you back to the lodge, after the kyambura gorge visit.
Day 4: Visit Maramagambo forest – Salt mining in Lake Katwe – Transfer to Bwindi national park
Wake up early and take breakfast as you wait for the driver to take you on an inspiring event at Lake Katwe to see how the locals mine salt and how they benefit from it. This is a good time to integrate with the local, afterwards you will be taken for a nature walk at the Maramagambo forest where you will visit the Bat caves and the pythons that feed on them from an unseen platform.
Besides the bats and pythons, you might also encounter red-tailed monkeys, other primates, chimpanzees (not habituated), pygmy antelopes etc. You will also see the crater Lakes – Nyamasingiri and Kyasanduka. Later in the afternoon, head for an afternoon boat ride
Return for dinner and overnight at the Lodge.
Day 5: Morning Game Drive & transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Wake up early for breakfast, and the driver guide will pick up and transfer you on a 2 hours drive to Bwindi Impenetrable national park, through the Isasha sector. The Isasha sector is popular for the famous tree climbing lions.
Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest – Visit to the Batwa Pygmies
Wake up early for your breakfast. Along with your packed lunch, you will be transferred by the driver guide to the Park headquarters for registration and join other trekkers in a briefing about the rules and the regulations during your Gorilla Trekking at 7:45 am. The briefing covers many topics including how to behave around the gorillas, what to expect and what to carry along while tracking the gorillas. You will be assigned a gorilla family taking into consideration your overall fitness and age. This is because some of the gorilla groups are found deeper in the forest hence requiring more You will be led by an experienced driver guide to trek through thick creepers and undergrowth to search for the Gorillas, which can take you 2 to 8 hours of the day. The steeply forested landscape is magnificently thick but crisscrossed by various animal trails allowing access to tourists.
Once you find them, take as much photos as you can because, you will allowed to interact with them for only 1 hour, after which you will return to the headquarters for your certificates.
After resting, the driver will take you to visit the Batwa pygmy community. Bwindi National park was the ancient home of the Batwa before they were evicted by the government. While with them, you will learn about their culture and the difficulties they face after a life of plenty in the forest. Expect great traditional dance and other performances from the them.
Return for dinner and overnight at the lodge
Day 7: Transfer back to Kampala
The 7th day marks the last day of the 7 days Uganda safari. You will wake up for breakfast at your own time and later settle in the car to be driven to Kampala or Entebbe with en-route stop over at the Igongo Cultural center for lunch in Mbarara. Proceed to the equator for photography at Kayabwe . If time allows, you can still stop at the Buganda Royal drum makers to learn how giant drums were crafted. The driver will drop you in Kampala or at Entebbe International airport so as to catch up with your flight back home.
