Kyambura Wildlife Reserve

Kigezi Wildlife Reserve

Kigezi Wildlife Reserve, in southwestern Uganda, was created to protect the diverse ecosystems of Kigezi Highlands. The reserve is characterized by rolling hills, lush vegetation, and a mosaic of habitats that support various wildlife species. Kigezi Wildlife Reserve is home to a variety of wildlife, including populations of common antelope species, including oribi, bushbuck, and duiker.

Karuma Wildlife Reserve

Karuma Wildlife Reserve, which forms a natural corridor between  Murchison Falls National Park, and Kibale Forest National Park, is in the Northern Region of Uganda.  Covering an area of approximately 820 square kilometer, along the banks of River Nile near Karuma falls, Karuma Wildlife Reserve features a mix of ecosystems, including grasslands, riverine forests, and wetlands.

Katonga Wildlife Reserve

Katonga Wildlife Reserve is home to an impressive variety of animals, many of which thrive in the reserve’s extensive wetland and savannah habitats. The reserve is particularly renowned for its sitatunga antelope, a rare and semi-aquatic species that is adapted to living in swampy environments. Other notable wildlife includes Ugandan kob, waterbucks, reedbucks, and bushbucks.

Ajai Wildlife Reserve

Ajai Wildlife Reserve, located in northern Uganda along the eastern bank of the Nile River, covers an area of about 148 square kilometers. Ajai Wildlife Reserve may not have the famous “Big Five,” but it hosts an interesting array of wildlife. Ugandan kob, warthogs, bushbucks, and waterbucks are among the common herbivores spotted within the reserve.

Matheniko Wildlife Reserve

Matheniko Wildlife Reserve is a significant conservation area located in northeastern Uganda, spanning approximately 600 square kilometers. The Reserve is home to a rich variety of wildlife, making it an attractive destination for nature enthusiasts and safari-goers. Among its notable inhabitants are elephants, which roam freely in the reserve, as well as several antelope species such as kobs, oribi, and topi.

Kwaboya Wildlife Reserve

Kwaboya Wildlife Reserve is known for its rich biodiversity, hosting a variety of wildlife species that attract nature enthusiasts and safari-goers. Among the most notable animals in the reserve are elephants, buffalo, and various antelope species, including waterbucks and kobs. The reserve is also home to a variety of primates, such as blue monkeys and red-tailed monkeys, which can often be seen playing in the treetops.

Bokora Wildlife Reserve

Particularly known for its large herds of free roaming Elephant population, Bokora Wildlife Reserve is home to an impressive variety of wildlife, making it a sought-after destination for safari enthusiasts. Other notable species include buffalo, zebra, and various antelope species such as kobs and topi.
