Detailed Travel Plan 6 Days Congo gorilla trekking tour – Congo Safaris.

Day #1 : Kigali Rwanda – transfer to Kahuzi Biega National Park.

Following your appointed time of pick up from either airport or hotel in Kigali, the private driver guide will arrive in perfect time to transfer you from Kigali (with en-route lunch), to arrive within 6-8 hours at the Border of Democratic Republic of Congo. The documentation clearance may take up to 10 minutes, after which you will be handed over to another driver guide in Congo, with whom you will proceed to your booked accommodation in Bukavu for both dinner & an overnight.

Day #2: Gorilla Habituation experience.

Upon having an early breakfast, join the driver few minutes before 7:00 am for an instant 90 minutes transfer to Kahuzi Biega national Park, where you will reach in perfect time for briefing about the Eastern lowland Gorilla Habituation process rules & regulations.

The Eastern Lowland Gorillas wshich occupy the low lying regions of South Kivu in Kahuzi Biega National Park, are much larger in Size compared to Mountain Gorillas in Virunga National Park.

Along with the ranger & guides, you will set off to search for the gorillas, spend 4 hours interacting with them, after then you will return to the hotel, for dinner & overnight. (Lunch will be enroute)

Day #3: Lwiro Chimpanzee Tracking & Transfer to Virunga National Park.

Have an early breakfast, and embark on your drive to lwiro chimpanzee sanctuary to witness many orphaned & rescued chimpanzees being fed, rehabilitated & treated at the center. After 2 hours of the experience, return to the Lodge for a delicious lunch, then proceed to Ihusi port board a Speed boat for a transfer to Goma Town where you will be picked and transferred to Virunga National Park .

Dinner and overnight at Bukima Tented Camp or Mikeno Lodge. or Kibumba Tented Camp.

Day #4: Mountain Gorilla Trekking In Virunga National Park

Your breakfast will be served early, after then, you will leave for the park headquarter for registration and briefing about the mountain gorilla trekking guidelines, during the search, when with them and how you leave them. Upon finding them, you will be allowd, a maximum of 1 hour of staying in their presence, as you make good memories, and taking photos.

Virunga National Park in Congo protects over 10 Mountain Gorilla habituated families, and a gorilla gretting permit to trek one particular family is $400 per person which is cheaper than Uganda’s $800 and Rwanda’s $1500.

Return later to the Lodge for Lunch, afternoon rest, followed by dinner and an overnight at the Lodge

Day #5: Nyiragongo Volcano Climbing To The Crater

Rise up Early for a delicious breakfast treat, and set off for Kabati Station – Nyiragongo’s registration & briefing point, as well as allocation of porters and guides. Thereafter, embark on the hike, passing through several vegetation cover, starting with the primary forest to the second vegetation, which connects to the beginning point of the volcanic eruption stones, which leads you up to the rim of the Lava Crater.

En-route, you will encounter several animals, including chimpanzees and numerous birds at the lower forested slopes of the Mountain. Enjoy magnificent views of the summit (on clear days), and spend the evening gazing at the spectacular boiling lava with red glow from the blazing lava, alongside pleasant moments for taking photos.

Retire for an overnight in one of the cabins, that accommodates at most 2 people.

Day #6: Descending Nyiragongo & Transfer to Kigali

On the Last day, you will wake up early for breakfast, view the Crater for the last time & descend to the foot slopes of the Mountain, where you will join the driver to transfer you to the border, to be transferred to Kigali by your Rwanda Driver guide.
