Gorilla Trekking In Rwanda

Gorilla trekking in Rwanda’s Volcanoes national Park allows you to trek 1 out of 12 habituated families, including Susa, Igisha, Karisimbi, Sabyinyo, Amahoro, Agashya, Kwitonda, Umubano, Hirwa, Bwenge, Ugyenda and Muhoza.

Each gorilla family/troop, comprising of 1 silverback,  various females, juveniles and infants in their respective positions are observed and safeguarded by park rangers.

At most 8 gorilla trekking permits are supplied  per day per group, with a total of 96 permits every day in Rwanda.

Gorilla trekking enthusiasts  meet at 7:00am at the Volcanoes National Park head, for briefing, then after each group (of 8 individuals) is assigned a gorilla family, depending on the level of fitness.

Gorilla trekking schedules are unpredictable, but at least 2 hours to at most 8 hours for an approximate altitude range from 2,500m to 4,000m.
