Detailed 10 Days Uganda Gorilla & Rwenzori Trekking Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala/Entebbe to Bwindi National park.

Take an early road safari with an experienced driver guide from  Aloyo safaris. I am sure that the entire road trip to Bwindi Impenetrable national Park. You will keep engaged with  the incredible green scenery of Uganda’s landscapes, market stalls selling groceries not forgetting the remarkable Kigezi highlands.

You will also have break stops at the equator for photography, followed by lunch in Mbarara. Arrive in Trekkers Tavern for Dinner and overnight, after checking in.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable national Park

You will be taken in the morning to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park  headquarters for Mountain gorilla trekking rules & regulations.  First you will begin with registration formalities, where your gorilla permits and passports will be verified, followed by allocation of gorilla family your group (of at most 8 people) will be trekking.

Thereafter with the help of the guide, you will be led to look for the Mountain gorillas in the thick jungle of the park.Gorilla trekking time schedule is not predictable, but one can take between 2 hours to 8 hours depending on features like: group trekking pace, the gorilla family, how far the gorillas might have moved from where they were left the previous day.

Upon reaching their territory, you will observe the 7-10m distance as per the guide’s instruction, while interacting with them capturing great moments (use flash less cameras), then return after 6o minutes to the headquarters for your gorilla trekking certificate, upon your success.

You will then make your way to the camp, to refresh, rest and have dinner. Dinner and overnight at Trekkers Tavern.

Day 3: Transfer to Rwenzori with game drive in Ishasha

On day 3 of the 10 days Uganda Gorilla & Rwenzori trekking , have breakfast & head to Rwenzori Mountains national park.

The drive will take you through Isasha sector, where you might spot tree climbing Lions, for which the Southern part of Queen Elizabeth national Park is famed.

Chances are that, you might also see other wildlife during the game drive in the region like: lions, buffalo, warthogs, elephants, and different, antelopes like water-bucks, kobs, topi among others. Then continue to Nyakalengija., and check in at Ruboni Community Camp where you enjoy your  diner and a goodnight.

Day 4: Nyakalengija 1648m to Nyabitaba camp 2651m

You will start your day with the Rwenzori mountaineering services head quater’s briefing about your Weismann summit trek, meet your potters, guides & cooks who will accompany you during your trek.  The hiking then starts from the park gate at 1646m to Nyabitaba  for a total distance of 10km takes 5-6 hours Walk and an ascent of 1200 m.

You will trek through through homes and gardens fields progressing through high elephant grasses and dense bushes. Creatures like white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, three horned chameleon and the Rwenzori Turaco birds might also be spotted. Dinner and an overnight at Nyabitaba Hut (2651m).

Day 5: Nyabitaba camp to Guyeoman camp 3505m

From Nyabitaba camp the trail takes you to the midpoint that divides the anti-clockwise from clockwise trail of the central circuit. Then follow the clockwise, as you trek through the bamboo Forest zone up to the kichuchu bridge,  followed by a gentle walk up to kichuchu Rock shelter where you will settle for lunch.

Thereafter, climb up to guy Yeoman at 3505m (Takes 5km to guy Yeoman camp ). Dinner will be served which then will be followed by an overnight rest.

Day 6: Guy Yeoman camp to Lake Kitandara lakes camp 4023m

Following your early morning breakfast, trek through the Boggy areas, then to the Heather/rupenia zone up to bujongolo rock shelter for lunch. thereafter ascend up the fresh field pass, which showcase beautiful view of the margarita glaciers and Weismann peak, then slope gently down to kitandara lakes camp. it takes 6-7 hours from guyeoman camp to kitandara lakes camp.

Dinner and an overnight at Kitandara Hut.

Day 7: From Kitandara lakes camp-Climb to weismans peak 4650m

Have breakfast, then head for the challenging walk, where you will jumping from tussock to tussock , as you might also spot some creatures  like the red mountain duikers and rock hyraxes. This takes you up to the top of weisman s peak 4650m, from where  you will celebrate your victory for making it up to the peak, while you also take good picture. Descend slowly down to Kitandara lake camp for Dinner and an overnight.

Day 8:  Kitandara lakes camp-Descend down Guy Yeoman Camp. 5 hours

Very Early in the morning, You will slope down to Guy Yeoman Camp, It will take Approx. 5 hours depending on the group strength and pace. Dinner and Overnight at Guyeoman.

Day 9: Guy Yeoman Camp -Descend to Nyakalengija

After breakfast, Descend down to Nyabitaba camp for lunch and proceed to Nyakalengija , for check in at Ruboni Community Camp for Dinner and Overnight rest.

Day 10:Return to Entebbe

Our final day 10,  begins with a delicious breakfast in the Morning, the driver guide will return you back to Entebbe for your flight back home.

End of service.
